Looking for a group class?

Most dogs benefit from training in a group - and it's the most economical way to get your foundation training started and to learn the basics of most dog sports.

My group classes are currently offered through

Pawsitive Canine Training Center
555 Lincoln Lake SE, Lowell, MI

Classes starting February 27, March 2 and 3

  • STAR Puppy Training
  • Basic Obedience
  • Intermediate Obedience - Canine Good Citizen
  • Intro-Advanced Rally Skills

Pawsitive also offers classes in competition obedience, agility, conformation and flyball. Please visit the Pawsitive Canine website for more information on location, schedules and fees.

Interested in private lessons?

If you'd like one-on-one instruction in basic obedience training or coaching for Rally obedience, I can meet you for lessons in your home, at Pawsitive Canine Training Center in Lowell, or at a training site in Grand Rapids.  The first lesson is usually 60 minutes or more, follow up lessons usually last 30-60 minutes.

Fees:

Weekday lessons in Grand Rapids or at Pawsitive Canine in Lowell: $35 for 60 minutes plus $15 for each additional half hour.

For in-home lessons more than 20 minutes drive time from my home in NE Grand Rapids, add $10 per lesson.

Evening and weekend lessons: up to $50 for 60 minutes, plus travel fees as listed above.

Behavior consultations

If you are facing these common problem behaviors, I can often help you develop an effective behavior change and management plan in 1-3 in-home sessions:

  • Chewing, nipping
  • Housetraining
  • Crate training
  • Barking
  • Resource guarding
  • Multidog household management
  • Shy or fearful behavior

If your dog's behavior challenge is more complex or deals with severe aggression, and I am not able to help you, I will do my best to refer you to a behaviorist or trainer who can.  Please be aware that the effectiveness of a training plan depends in large part on your commitment to daily practice with your dog and attention to consistent household management.

My fee for initial behavior consultations at your home in Grand Rapids is $50 for 90 minutes weekdays ($60 for evening and weekend appointments).  The initial meeting will include a history and behavior assessment and development of a leadership and management plan. Follow up sessions and travel fees are charged at my private lesson rates.
